Feeling dizzy, disoriented, or like the room is spinning isn’t just frustrating—it can be unsettling and even traumatic. Vertigo can interfere with daily life and is a signal that your body is asking for deeper support.
At Hope and Healing Naturopathic, we understand that vertigo is your body’s way of telling you that something is out of balance—both physically and emotionally. Our goal is to uncover the ‘why’ behind this imbalance and help you feel more grounded, clear, and steady again.
Vertigo is commonly described as a sensation of spinning or swaying, even while remaining still. It can occur on its own or with nausea, fatigue, visual changes, headaches, or anxiety. Episodes can strike for seconds or linger for days, affecting work, relationships, and every aspect of life.
While a label like BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) is common, it doesn’t explain why the issue is happening—or what’s contributing to it. We listen and look deeper. By identifying root causes and restoring balance, we support your body’s ability to heal so you can live without vertigo.
Common Causes
Vertigo may be caused or worsened by one or a combination of the following factors:
- *Otoconia (tiny crystals in the inner ear made of calcium): When these shift out of place, vertigo can occur. Head trauma, recent illness, aging, allergies, calcium or Vitamin D imbalances, and stress can all contribute to otoconia displacement.
- *Cranial or structural imbalances: Misalignments in the head, neck, jaw, or spine can interfere with proper nervous system signaling and equilibrium. Structural issues can impede proper flow throughout the head, face, neck, impacting sinus drainage, ear pressure, and lymphatic flow.
- *Stress and nervous system dysregulation: It is very common for acute or chronic emotional or physical stressors to dysregulate your nervous system and disrupt your sense of balance.
- Acute illness (viral infections, sinus or ear infections), inflammation, allergies: Our body doesn’t randomly create inflammation, mucus, or congestion for no reason. It’s important to figure out why the body is mounting a response affecting the vestibular system vs. suppressing symptoms with medications.
- Electrolyte imbalances or dehydration: Even mild dehydration can affect blood pressure and nerve signaling, leading to dizziness.
- Medication side effects: Certain medications (such as blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, or sedatives) can interfere with balance.
- Food intolerances or inflammatory diets: When we eat foods that are difficult for our body to digest, this contributes to toxemia and systemic inflammation. As mentioned above, inflammatory processes can contribute to vertigo.
- Toxemia: A build-up of metabolic waste or environmental toxicants can happen because of compromised detoxification pathways, excess exposure, or both. This produces systemic inflammation which can lead to vertigo.
*The starred concerns are the causes that we address most frequently which bring about the fastest results.
Limitations of Conventional Care
In conventional medicine, vertigo is often managed with medications such as antihistamines, benzodiazepines, anti-nausea drugs, or vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT). While these tools may help some patients in the short term, they often fail to address the root causes of the imbalance.
A common limitation of the allopathic model is the lack of integration and communication between specialties. ENTs may focus only on ear or sinus issues without addressing the nervous system, while neurologists may focus solely on the brain, overlooking the digestive tract or structural abnormalities. This can leave many patients feeling frustrated, dismissed, and without long-term relief.
Our Whole-Person Approach to Vertigo Relief
We approach vertigo differently—because your body is more than just systems and symptoms. Your body is brilliantly designed to heal, and our role is to uncover what’s causing it, then support your body’s ability to recover and regain balance.
Here’s how we help patients heal:
- Personalized Evaluations – Depending on your needs, we may include a comprehensive intake, structural and neurological assessments, dietary intolerance and urinary indican evaluations, lab work, and assessments for stress or toxicity patterns. We don’t treat lab results or symptoms—we treat people. These tools help us gather pieces of the puzzle to figure out the what, when, where, and why behind your symptoms. Some patients may require less intense or comprehensive care, depending on the severity or duration of their symptoms.
- Structural Corrections – The body functions like a complex plumbing and wiring system and if structures are out of alignment, issues occur. Gentle corrections to bones, muscles, organs, and nerves can restore alignment, improve nerve signaling, and resolve underlying causes of vertigo. One technique we use is called Bio Craniopathy which gently restores natural motion and function to the cranium and nervous system. Cranial alignment re-establishes cerebrospinal fluid flow, optimizes nerve signaling, and relieves tension and supports drainage of the ear, jaw, and sinuses.

- Personalized Dietary Guidance – To give your body the best chance to heal, it’s important to fuel it with proper nutrition. Even those eating what most consider a “healthy” diet may be unknowingly consuming foods that their body can’t properly digest. With just a few drops of blood, it’s possible to identify your food intolerances that may be creating internal toxemia and inflammation.
- Internal Support – Supporting underlying weaknesses such as poor gut integrity, sluggish detox pathways, or an overwhelmed nervous system is foundational to healing. This may involve:
- A powder to help repair leaky gut junctions, reducing inflammation, allergies, digestive concerns, and vertigo.
- A homeopathic remedy to promote healing on deep physical, emotional, and energetic levels to resolve vertigo.
- Acupuncture to relax, balance, and harmonize meridians.
- Targeted nutrients to resolve deficiencies and support detox pathways.
- Proper hydration and electrolyte balancing to improve cellular health.
- Scalar and frequency based devices to reduce inflammation, add cellular voltage for increased healing, and promote vagus nerve activation.
- Nervous System Regulation – At the root of vertigo, we often find a dysregulated nervous system. Whether caused by acute physical stress, suppressed trauma, or chronic mental stress, strain on the nervous system can trigger physical symptoms including vertigo. Many are surprised to learn that vertigo can resolve by releasing stored emotional trauma. We see it often, and quickly with these techniques:
- Neuro Emotional Technique (NET): Helps release subconscious stress or trauma contributing to physical issues, anxiety, or chronic stress patterns.
- Quantum Neuro Reset Therapy (QNRT): Resets the brain and nervous system by identifying and clearing emotional stress patterns that may be contributing to physical or neurological symptoms.
You Don’t Have to Struggle Feeling Woozy or Off Balance
Vertigo can make even simple tasks like walking, driving, or moving your head feel overwhelming.
