What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of the oldest healing systems in the world and has been used for thousands of years to support the body's natural ability to heal. At Hope and Healing Naturopathic, we use acupuncture as one of many tools to help restore balance and support the body's innate healing processes.
Health is not simply the absence of symptoms or disease. Rather, it is the body's ability to adapt to and recover from life's physical, emotional, and environmental stressors. Illness, injury, emotional trauma, chronic stress, lack of sleep, poor nutrition, and unhealthy lifestyle habits can all impair the body's ability to do what it was designed to do—maintain balance and health.
Acupuncture helps shift the nervous system toward a parasympathetic state, which supports rest, digestion, repair, and healing.
When the body becomes stuck in patterns of stress or imbalance, the following symptoms may occur:
- Chronic pain
- Muscle tension
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Stress
- Insomnia
- Constipation
- Bloating
- Nausea
- Irregular or painful menses
- Jaw pain/TMJ issues
- Headaches or migraines
How Does It Work?
Acupuncture uses extremely fine needles placed at specific points on the body to stimulate the body's natural healing mechanisms. Research has shown that acupuncture can influence the nervous system, circulation, connective tissue, and pain pathways, helping the body move from a state of stress and survival into one of rest, repair, and recovery.
Acupuncture may help:
✅ Regulate the nervous system and promote relaxation
✅ Improve sleep quality and stress resilience
✅ Improve circulation and tissue healing
✅ Reduce pain, inflammation, and muscle tension
✅ Support digestion and hormonal balance
Many patients experience a deep sense of relaxation during and after treatment as the body shifts from a state of stress and survival into one of rest, repair, and recovery.
What Can I Expect?
Everything we do is personalized and comprehensive. We assess your symptoms, health history, lifestyle factors, and overall patterns of imbalance to create a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and goals.
Acupuncture needles are extremely thin—about the width of a hair—and most patients are surprised by how comfortable and deeply relaxing treatments can be. Many even fall asleep during their session.
A Different Way to Heal
At Hope and Healing Naturopathic, we believe the body is intelligent, adaptive, and constantly working toward balance. Acupuncture helps support that process by improving communication within the body and creating the conditions for lasting healing.
Rather than suppressing symptoms, our goal is to understand what they are communicating and help restore the balance your body has been working to achieve. When given the right support, the body has an incredible ability to heal, adapt, and thrive.
